This Old House 2009 Remodel Winner

Posted on | June 26, 2009 | 1 Comment

We were excited to find some of our Victorian and Arts & Crafts wallpapers used to bring a Bowling Green, Kentucky house from “Forlorn to Refreshed”.  The 1896 Queen Anne, (which was originally designed by an enterprising architect of the time, George Barber), had seen better days when Elaine & Dorian Walker bought it six years ago.  A three-year renovation followed and the end results were impressive enough for the hard working couple to win the This Old House 2009 Reader Remodel Award.  You can see all the pictures (before & afters also) and read the account at the link.

Our congratulations to the Walkers!!

Did you finish the attic? We have a home similar to this and wish to finish the attic. The stairs are narrow and steep and are our first concern. Then we’d like to put in a master suite with a bathroom. How did you begin? Where did you find reputable contractors? Any referrals or advice would be appreciated. Your house looks absolutely beautiful!
